I swear a kitchen is never big enough.  And yet, I have made multiple course meals for a dozen or more people in teeny tiny kitchens.  So really, it's the pantry that is a necessity for me in comparison to the kitchen itself.

What kills me when looking for a place to rent or buy is that these new photography methods make things look bigger.  I started counting the cabinets because of this.  I need at least one cabinet for my main dishes, one for my serving dishes, and one for my seasonal dishes. I like having a base cabinet for the baking pans and my pans not in use.  If I have a pantry, I am set on cabinets at this point.

I am searching for a place to live, and the kitchen is a make or break for me.  I cook every day.  I use a soda stream, coffee maker, and usually one of my frying pans daily.  I have square glass pitchers to store my tea or lemonade in the fridge.  I have been craving salads a lot lately and make my own dressings.

In the fridge I use at least one lazy susan, along with bins to contain smaller ingredients.  I bin the condiments together for ease of gathering.  I make my own yogurt and collect lidded glass yogurt jars from thrift store yogurt makers to take yogurt to work.  These jars are also a good size for storing the wetter ingredients for a salad, such as the tomatoes or pickles if you want them to keep your salad from getting soggy.

In my main dish cabinet I use one of those wire racks, so that I can separate the plates by size into stacks.  I also use racks so that the bowls can be sorted by size. I have multiple little glass bowls to use to organize my ingredients as I cook.

I don't have a toaster yet, I want something that looks like those SMEG toasters without costing so much.  Ideally, I would find a turquoise SMEG at a thrift store!  Dreaming is allowed.

Here's to the love of kitchens.  Enjoy yours in whatever way you prefer!
