Sunday Ramblings

The full moon this week was gorgeous, I am superstitious about full moons and people though.  The hospital was a crazy place all week.  I worked a bit extra and I am definitely ready for the holiday.  My work doesn't pay for holiday time, I just get the day off.

I will be spending the day with my honey and his family.  It's a great drive a bit west of us through hills and lakes.  Not literally through, that would be something if we could do that, but the road curves through the hills with lots of lake views.  His sister's house is on a few acres with gardens and friendly people to enjoy the day with.  What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

This last week I spent a lot of time thinking about goals.  Life goals, timing goals, fun goals, travel goals.  Some of these goals have to have a budget/plan.  It's being done.

My reading included a "maker" book.  It was about tools, techniques, and setting up spaces to do your projects.  It also had ideas and ways to accumulate, find and utilize items "found" in the amazing stream of waste in the U.S.  I don't know if you have the same types of waste in other parts of the world, but in the U.S. things seem to be manufactured to be replaced instead of repaired, used, but never used up.

I drive an older car.  I have someone who will do my basic repairs for me, so it isn't costing me a huge amount.  I will continue to drive it as long as my repairs continue to be replacing worn  out items.  It just makes sense for me.  I am saving away for the next car in two or three years.

I wear pre-worn clothes.  I will get new sometimes, but I like vintage, I like quirky, and I love quality.  I prefer to spend on experiences and learning, not things, so my clothing is used.  I look like anyone else you see, nothing out of the ordinary, a pretty lady doing her thing.

I find cool parts at the thrift stores.  A few weeks ago I found a case with electrical doo-hickeys.  The case was worth the price, but the doo-hickeys made it a gift for my honey, he will be using them in his maker projects.  I don't do electrical stuff, at least not yet.

I also take things apart for the usable parts.  Some of these I am selling.  Some I use in my projects.  I take buttons I love to replace those ordinary ones on some of my clothing.  I use the special zippers on my projects.  I cut linen dresses up for napkins.  I have a collection of belt buckles to attach to my belts for multiple different looks.

My bedside tables are both black, one was rescued from the garbage and the knobs replaced, the other is a $5 find.  My headboard, is an Ethan Allen sleighbed headboard trash picked and gifted to me.

My life is rich.
