Sunday Ramblings

Dear friends,

It's been a terrific week.  I enjoyed my work, when I am in charge, I feel that I am taking care of everyone.  It's a juggling act of balancing the needs of patients, versus staff, versus doctors and the rest of them (bosses, lol).  Somehow the balancing was easier this holiday week.  That's a win.

We spent two separate occasions with family.  Three of my sweetheart's siblings live here in the area.   They are first generation English, although his oldest sister actually was born in England.  I really enjoy all of them.  We had Thanksgiving at his sister's house.  Then we also had a nice lunch for his nephew's birthday.  Lots of family time, which is good, since we had missed that a lot this past year plus.

Frugal win, he found a bunch of chisels at the thrift and is happily rehabbing them right now.  We often find things we repair or use for parts/pieces.  I have cut up many clothing items for the fabric.  I make quilts, rugs, new items of clothing, napkins from linen clothing.  I don't worry about my napkins matching since it's usually only one or two people eating at my house.  My dishes are white with a black floral design (called Christina by Spode), I can pull out any color to go with them.

Project ideas:  turn black leather skirt into pillow, or use to felt onto wool in a cool design.  Old leather skirts in green heavy suede are going to be the basis for a hat and matching bustier type belt for my Ren-Faire costumes.  I am completing a quilt for the man from corduroy, his favorite fabric.  Since it is corduroy, the seams are half an inch and the smallest blocks are 6 inches once completed.  My newest to me sewing machine is a Pfaff I found for $25.  I had to get a foot feed from a sewing machine parts place on-line, and the machine sews like a dream.  I am also helping a friend make a comic con costume.  I may need to start including photos of my own projects.  I will Instagram them.

I have several ideas for Amazon novellas, I am going to experiment with them, publishing some of my stories as I write them.  My author names are CH Vance, and Colleen Vance.  Romances and PWF (paranormal women's fiction) will be Colleen, sci-fi, fantasy and urban fiction will be CH Vance.

In a way, we did some traveling since we drove 90 minutes for Thanksgiving.  It was a beautiful drive, there is a bit of color changes in the foliage, but it may be as good as it gets.  I miss the beautiful reds, oranges and yellows from Washington state.  Perhaps next year we can drive to our Vegas event, and get more fall in our fall!

I am curious how everything is going with you.  Did you have family over for the holidays?  Are you ready for Christmas?  We are choosing to get each other a gift but not going crazy with gift giving.  He's already given me several things I really wanted for our dating anniversary and my birthday.  I found him a book that he had been going to order the same week I gifted it to him (glad I got it to him first!)

Goodbye for now, Colleen
